Kampong Ayer Environment and Modernization discussed at ICEAD 2018
March 10, 2018 – An International Conference on Environmental Awareness for Sustainable Development (ICEASD) 2018 was held at the Horison Kendari Hotel in Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia, from 10 to 11 March 2018. Dr Haji Tassim Bin Haji Abu Bakar, Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of the Academy of Brunei Studies, was invited as a keynote speaker and to represent Universiti Brunei Darussalam, together with academics from other countries, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanafi Hussin from University of Malaya and Dr. Eng. Husnul Kausarian of Universitas Islam Riau (Indonesia). Dr Haji Tassim’s paper was titled “Kampong Ayer di Sungai Brunei melestarikan persekitarannya”.

Consumer confidence plays major role in Halal food industry
August 10, 2018 - THE 3rd International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT III) 2018 rolled into its second and final day yesterday, mirroring the opening day’s packed schedule, with a fourth session of paper presentations as well as a forum being held. Held at the International Convention Centre, the two-day seminar was co-organised by the Faculty of Syariah and Law, Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and the Global Halal Industry Development Division of the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry.

Islamic inheritance distribution talk increase students’ awareness
September 27, 2018 – An Islamic Inheritance Distribution talk was held for students taking the Academy of Brunei Studies module PB-2302 Brunei Islamic Laws (Perundangan Islam). The talk represented the Academy’s continuing policy of inviting highly knowledgeable guest speakers to deliver talks on specific topics.
