MIB Corner Added to Brunei Studies Collection, UBD Library

April 2018 - The Academy of Brunei Studies successfully launched the Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) or Malay Islam Monarchy Corner in the Brunei Studies Collection of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Main Library. The MIB Corner was a concerted effort by five Academy of Brunei Studies' final year students with the support and cooperation of the Academy of Brunei Studies itself, UBD Library and the Secretariat Office of the MIB Supreme Council and consists of around 900 publications in the form of books, magazines, newspaper clippings and multimedia such as videos pertaining to MIB.

Chator Asli Brunei App Revives Traditional Game

May 2018 - Four students from the Academy of Brunei Studies (APB) recently released the Chator Asli Brunei app to the public, successfully bringing back a traditional board game from the brink of extinction. With support from the Brunei History Association (PESEBAR), Brunei Chess Association and iCentre, the group launched the smartphone app which allows users to play the game, learn about its history as well as learn more about Brunei Darussalam. Distinguished Professor David Koh, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) officiated the launch held at the Inspiring Hall, UBD.

The Brunei Traditional Dance Workshop and Competition

March 2018 - The Brunei Traditional Dance Workshop and Competition “Bengkel dan Pertandingan Gemalai Tarian Asli Brunei” was organized by five final year students from Academy of Brunei Studies, under the supervision of Dr. Maslin bin Haji Jukin/Jukim. This event was made under PB-4307 Project II and was held for two days which was on the 29th and 31st March 2018.

Social media easy path for cyber-bullying

February 2018 - Four final year students of Academy of Brunei Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam organised a briefing on ‘Cybercrime and the Risks and Dangers of Social Media’ for Year 7 students of Rimba II Secondary School on 15 February 2018. Second International Seminar on Malay Research (SAPEMM II)

March 2018 - Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through the Academy of Brunei Studies (ABS) and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) in collaboration with the Department of Southeast Asian Studies of Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany held the second International Seminar on Malay Research. The three-day seminar held at the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) was officiated by Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Ayub Sadiq, UBD Assistant Vice Chancellor (Academic). Also present during the opening of the seminar were representatives from relevant government departments such as Museums Department, Radio Televisyen Brunei, Islamic Dakwah Centre, Information Department, History Centre and Adat Istiadat Department.
