Brunei Customs highlighted in workshop for BIBD ALAF students

February 26, 2019 | THIRTY students in the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (BIBD ALAF) programme recently attended a Brunei Culture and Malay Language Preservation workshop at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Jointly organised by BIBD and Academy of Brunei Studies (UBD), the workshop focussed on three major topics: Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), Bruneian customs and Bruneian traditions. Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Pengiran Dr Hajah Siti Norainna binti Pengiran Haji Besar and Haji Muhammad Rafee bin Haji Shahif from Academy of Brunei Studies (UBD) facilitated the workshop.

Project raises awareness on financial management

March 12, 2019 | A TOTAL of 50 students of the Rimba II Primary School completed Basic Education on Finance Literacy and Entrepreneurship yesterday, which also saw a visually impaired student as one of the participants involved in the project. The project was conducted by APB Year 4 students under the PB-4307 module. Senior Lecturer Dr Haji Tassim bin Haji Abu Bakar as the coordinator of the project noted that this project aimed to produce financially literate generation.

Malay Language workshop sheds light among Muallaf

April 8, 2019 | THE closing ceremony for the Malay Language and Culture Perpetuation Workshop, organised by Year 4 students from Academy of Brunei Studies (APB), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in collaboration with Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), was held at the Conference Hall of Islamic Da’wah Centre. The workshop, participated by 40 Muallaf (new Muslims), focussed on Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), Brunei’s Adat Istiadat and Brunei Malay Language.

Exhibition highlights importance of tradition

April 20, 2019 | THE 10th Seminar and Exhibition on Brunei Traditional Industry under the Academy of Brunei Studies (APB), with the support from the Abdul Razak Holdings, was launched at The Mall, Gadong.

Preserve Brunei Weaving Legacy through Technology

April 17, 2019 - THREE  final year Academy of Brunei Studies undergraduates, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has introduced an application called 'Reka Bentuk Kain Tenunan Kitani' or Our Woven Cloth Designs under the Projek Pelestarian Motif Tenunan Brunei or Perpetuating Brunei Weaving Motif Project. Apart from that the application can also be made as a database to document and preserve the Brunei Weaving Motifs Legacy. The application's launch was held yesterday afternoon at the Academy of Brunei Studies, UBD.

Books provide local perspective on history of Brunei

April 23, 2019 | PERMANENT Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad yesterday officiated the launching of two publications jointly hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Academy of Brunei Studies of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the Brunei History Association (PESEBAR).
