Academy of Brunei Studies students attend the 7th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium, Yogyakarta

November 4-8, 2019 | The 7th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium (ATTS) was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 4-8 November 2019. Dk Nurul Faten, a graduate student from the Academy of Brunei Studies, presented a paper at the symposium titled, 'Preserving Woven Textiles through Innovation'. Noramalina, an Academy of Brunei Studies Alumni, participated in the symposium’s textile exhibition.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and former Director of the Academy of Brunei Studies, Dr Siti Norkhalbi Haji Wahsalefelah, was also present at the symposium. Brunei delegates also had the opportunity to take part in a study tour organised by the symposium at the following places: Makam raja-raja Jawa; Batik Workshop at Imogiri 3; the Batik Apipas Gallery; Candi Borobudur; the Ullen Museum; the Batik Jawa Gallery; and Studio DOWA.
