September 27, 2018 – An Islamic Inheritance Distribution talk was held for students taking the Academy of Brunei Studies module PB-2302 Brunei Islamic Laws (Perundangan Islam). The talk represented the Academy’s continuing policy of inviting highly knowledgeable guest speakers to deliver talks on specific topics.

The talk was given by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Metussin bin Haji Baki, a former Syariah High Court judge of Brunei Darussalam. The talk was attended by over 40 people, comprising of members of the public as well as students taking the module.

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Metussin bin Haji Baki’s talk focused on Islamic laws of inheritance with the aim of increasing the awareness of these laws among Bruneians. His talk addressed numerous issues, such as Finance Inclusion, Inheritance, Management, Guardianship, Debt, Zakat, the Will in Islam, Waqf, Sadaqah, Matrimonial Property, Pensions and TAP.

A lively question and answer session followed the talk.
